The amazing flavour of science,
community & nature
We delight in taking a sideways view of the world, of gently upsetting the apple cart so sometimes will use unique flavour combinations to set us apart from the traditional.
Social Gin is our pioneering Gin with fresh botanical combinations that bring science, community and of course nature together to create something amazing. Here’s how we do that Stillgarden style!
SCIENCE
We use hydroponics baths, filled with nutrient rich water and soil, to help deliver intensely flavour botanicals. Along with experimentation in growing different botanicals we also try new and innovative ways of distilling such as Vacuum Distillation.
“Vacuum distillation is distillation performed under reduced pressure, which allows the purification of compounds not readily distilled at ambient pressures or simply to save time or energy. This technique separates compounds based on differences in boiling points
Applying this principle to distillation is extremely interesting as we can target particular components of the botanicals we use by varying the pressure under which boiling point is achieved and as a result what flavour extraction can be attained” – Alan Mulvihill, Head Distiller.
COMMUNITY
We distributed hydroponic kits to our army of local Social Botanists allowing them to grow flavour rich botanicals at home. Once the seedlings have matured the Social Botanists are then invited to plant their home grown botanicals at the distilleries community garden.
NATURE
It’s all about the botanicals! Inspired by our surroundings we carefully select what dominant botanicals to use in each product. Stillgarden Social Gin is made using Mint, Lavender, Rosehips and Rowan berries sourced from our community garden or from the local area.
